Dale Alger was raised on a dry land wheat farm near Stanford, MT. He graduated from college at Montana State University in Bozeman with an elementary education degree with a music minor in 1976. He received his Montana library endorsement from Eastern Montana College in 1978. His Master in Information Resources and Library Science was earned from the University of Arizona in 1997.
Dale is the High School Librarian at the Roundup Community Library, which is a combined public and school library located at Roundup High School. He has been a librarian in Roundup for 32 years. He and his wife, Tomi, moved to Roundup in 1980. They have two children, Allison who is a legal assistant in Idaho and Andrew who is a graphic designer in Colorado.
Dale coached elementary boys’ and girls’ basketball teams while he was librarian at Roundup Central Elementary School. He then changed to coaching volleyball. He assisted Laurie Kelly and coached the “C” volleyball team for about 10 years and then coached the new eighth grade volleyball team for one year.
His interest in volleyball allowed him to become the radio announcer for volleyball games for Panther Country Sports. He started by announcing just District, Divisional and State Volleyball Tournaments and then he and Bill Edwards started doing all of the home and away games just like basketball. Dale helps announcing football, basketball and volleyball now.
